How to Install in Ground Swimming Pool Liners
Get the template for liner measurements from your pool supplier. The architect or contractor who built your pool should also have them.
Choose your liner color & pattern. It is strongly recommended to choose a very dark liner pattern as this will allow you water to be heated by the sun up to 7 °F (−14 °C) more than a light colored liner.
Measure your swimming pool for its new liner and place the order. This will require tape measures that are at least as long as the longest measurement in the pool which is corner to corner. Free-form pools will require an "A" "B" plot that uses two tape measures to complete.
Upon liner delivery, drain pool. You can drain the pool in advance if you are certain that you have dry weather in the forecast and ONLY if you have a mortar bottom pool. Sand and vermiculite pools should wait until the last minute to drain.
Inspect walls for rust or damage.Grind and use galvanized steel rust paint where required to limit rust formation.
Inspect floors for cracks or damage. If you find any, consult a contractor or pool repairman and fix before moving forward.
Wash and broom your pool from top to bottom.Vacuum pool floor and water that has collected.
Install gaskets and screws.
Tape seams in walls and coping.
Install the vacuum through skimmer behind the liner.
Position the liner as air is removed from behind it.Shift the liner to eliminate any wrinkles.
Begin adding water.
- Cut out main drains when there is 12" of water.
- Fill to 18" water in the shallow end.
Remove the vacuum and continue filling to returns.
Install return gaskets and face places.
Fill the pool to skimmer.
Install the skimmer gasket and the faceplate.
Fill pool to halfway on skimmer mouth and start system.
Add chlorine shock.
